Frequently Asked Questions

We want you to have a safe, fun experience at My Peek A Boo Baby. If you have any questions before your appointment that is not listed below, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. If you have any questions or concerns during your appointment, please let your Sonographer know. .

What do I wear?

You want to wear something comfortable. Remember we will be exposing your belly in order to perform the ultrasound, so dresses are not recommended. The temperature of the room can fluctuate so we also recommend dressing in layers.

What do I do the day of my appointment?

We recommend eating a healthy meal before your appointment and staying hydrated. While we don’t require a full bladder like the Doctors Office, eating and hydrating will help baby to be active during your session. Once you can feel baby moving, we also recommend scheduling your session around what is usually an active baby time.

What do I bring with me?

Be sure to bring payment (we accept cash and credit cards) and your ID. Also bring your current Obstetrician’s name and phone number for our records. Bring whomever you’d like to have with you and possibly a list of anyone you want specialized photos for (depending on package).

Can I bring children?

We at My Peek A Boo baby are firm believers in family bonding and we welcome your family. Our scanning room is large enough to comfortably occupy five adults, all with a view of our large screen TV. There is also floor space for a bored toddler to play. We do recommend bringing a few of their favorite toys or activities and at least one adult who can tend to them.

What if your schedule times don’t work for me?

We are all about YOUR experience. If you need a time that is not listed on our schedule, just give us a call or message us through Facebook. Many times our experienced Sonographers can accommodate other schedule options.

Can I customize my appointment session?

At My Peek A Boo Baby, we want the absolute BEST bonding experience for your family, no matter the situation. If you have special requests or accommodations, please give us a call or message us on Facebook to discuss them. We pride ourselves on being a tolerant, open environment to all diverse situations. We will do our best to help you.

Do I need to have a gender reveal?

While many people choose to learn the sex of their baby before birth, we understand not everyone wants to know. Just let us know ahead of time that you don’t want to know the gender and we won’t spoil the big surprise.

Can you accommodate surprise gender reveals?

Contact us to go over any special requests, but we can certainly hide your baby’s gender for a later reveal. There are several options for this and our helpful staff would be happy to find what works best for you.

Is the gender reveal 100%?

Because of the nature of human development, we can never say we are 100% accurate. However, given the appropriate baby age, we can usually say with 99% accuracy. And, if we can’t get a clear picture because of baby cooperation, we will welcome you back at no charge to try again. We always recommend baby be 16 weeks or greater for more definitive determination.

How do I schedule appointments?

The first step is to visit your Obstetrician. For the safety of your baby, we will not see clients unless they are under the direct care of a physician and have had at least one appointment. You need to know how far along you are in your pregnancy to schedule a session. We offer scheduling online through our website and by phone.

What if there is something wrong with my baby?

If our trained, registered Sonographers notice anything unusual the findings will be reported to your Obstetrician during their next available business hours. This is why it’s vital to have your Doctor’s name and number.

In the event something were seen that is possibly hazardous to the welfare of mom or baby and may requires immediate attention we will direct you to the nearest hospital or phone emergency services as needed. Our Sonographers are also CPR certified.

Is ultrasound safe?

Ultrasound is currently one of the safest imaging procedures available. The machine uses sound waves to obtain images from within the human body. As with anything, there are risks but guidelines are in place to minimize those risks and the baby’s exposure. We recommend talking with your Doctor before scheduling if you have any concerns.

Who performs the ultrasound?

Only a trained and Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with current credentials in OB/GYN will perform the ultrasounds. And the current AIUM guidelines will be followed to provide the safest bonding experience possible. Our Sonographers have the same/similar education and requirements as those at your Doctor or hospital. We also require CPR certification and some even have first responder training. My Peek A Boo Baby only hires true medical professionals with a passion.

Will you be able to tell me the size of my baby?

Measurements are part of a diagnostic exam. We do not perform medical, diagnostic exams at My Peek A Boo Baby. This is purely an enjoyable, bonding experience. Although we’ll be happy to point out all those fun baby landmarks!

Will we hear the heartbeat?

We will gladly play the heartbeat for short intervals on any baby over 14 weeks old. Any baby less than 14 weeks old we will be happy to show you the heart motion.

The system used to obtain the heartbeat is of a higher power and only safe after 14 weeks for very short periods of time. This is based on safety guidelines from the highest authority in ultrasound safety, the AIUM (American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine).

Is there a cancellation policy?

We understand things happen but we request at least a 24 hour notice for cancellation. For the safety of other families and our employees, we ask that you reschedule if you become ill.

Weather Policy

In the event of severe weather, the office may close for the safety of employees and clients. Any closure will be noted on the Official Facebook page as soon as possible and every reasonable attempt will be made to contact any scheduled clients for scheduling at a later date. Please do not drive or ride during severe or dangerous weather. We will strictly adhere to any Snow Levels/Emergencies as required per State Law.
